FME Minirobocon “Back to Memory” 2020 – A Scientific and Creative Playground for DUT Students

In the atmosphere of the 45th ceremony of establishment of not only the University of Danang – University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT) but also the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME), on January 16, 2020, at the conference room S02.06 the final round of Minirobocon contest took place with the theme “Back to Memory”, organized by FME, UD-DUT. The contest has 48 participating teams, including: 05 teams of K16, 18 teams of K17, 17 teams of K18 and 8 teams of K19.

Participating in the opening ceremony, on the side of sponsors, there are representatives from Premo Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Diamond Sponsor): Ms. Hoang Minh Hang – Head of Human Resources; R&P Electronics Co., Ltd: Mr. Ton That Liem; DUTI English Center: Ms. Dang Thi My Ca – Head of Training Department, Ms. Bui Tra Uyen – Head of Admission Consulting Department; Truong Giang Electrical JSC: Mr. Nguyen Quyet – Factory Director. On the side of the University, there are Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Dinh Lam – Director of Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, Dr. Nguyen Van Dong – Director of Student Affairs Department, Assoc. Prof. Luu Duc Binh – Dean of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; the Leader Board the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and all members of the participating teams.

Speaking in the opening, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Dinh Lam – Director of Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, said that this year’s Minirobocon contest with the theme “Back to Memory” is no longer a contest at Faculty level, but became a School-level contest with the participation of students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Transportation Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunication, Faculty of Information Technology. This is indeed a useful and interesting playground to help students express their dynamism, creativity, and ability to explore and research as well as practice teamwork. At the same time, he also sent sincere thanks to the sponsors and the supporting units for joining hands with FME to organize this meaningful contest.

After fiery and intense matches, the contest has found the best robots. Specifically: 

  • First Prize: LADK – from students of 2 faculties: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering; 
  • Second Prize: KTX505N4 – from students of 3 faculties: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, and Faculty of FAST; 
  • Third Prize: TQS – Strong tiger – from students of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; 
  • Technology Prize: Banana – from students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering; 
  • Impressive video award: LADK.

“The Mechanical Engineering Minirobocon Competition was formerly a competition based on a subject for 4th-year FME students that began in 2014. With the desire to bring the contest to not only for 4th-year but also for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year students to motivate the spirit of studying and nurture a love for the profession. In addition, with the aim of creating opportunities for students to work together in interdisciplinary groups such as Engineering – Electrical – Electronics – Automation – Information Technology… to create robots together, in 2019, FME has opened the competition to all students of UD-DUT”, Assoc. Prof. Luu Duc Binh – Dean of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering said.

Le Cong Tuan Anh, class 18C1B, a member of LADK team shared, “This contest helps me gain a lot of new knowledge such as robot design, how to use solidword software to simulate robots, how to process mechanics, as well as assign work among members. Specifically, this time my team is a combination of members from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering to perfect the robot”.
