SMC Automation Lab sponsoring meeting

On November 27, 2019, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME) had a meeting with SMC Corporation (Vietnam) to discuss the sponsorship of SMC Automation Laboratory for FME. The representatives from University of Science and Technology (DUT) were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh – Vice Rector of DUT, and the Directors of departments of Facility Management, Academic Affairs, and Student Affairs. As for SMC Corporation (Vietnam), their delegation included Mr. Shoichi Tomita – Deputy Managing Director of Global Sales, SMC Corporation, Mr. Gerald Ho – Managing Director of SMC Corporation (Vietnam), Mr. Omura – Japanese Specialist, Mr. Ho Viet Thang – Sales Manager, SMC Corporation (Vietnam), and Mr. Van Viet Huan – Manager of Branch of Danang, SMC Corporation (Vietnam).  

At the meeting, SMC Corporation (Vietnam) and DUT reached the agreements as follows: 

  • Deploying the Automation lab for FME, which is expected to put into use at the end of February or the beginning of March 2020; 
  • Deploying the sponsorship of scholarships for students of FME and supporting funding for students from 2020-2021. 

After the meeting, the SMC delegation paid a visit to the location of SMC Automation Lab as well as had a talk with students carrying out their graduation projects at the Institute of Mechanical Technology and Automation (IMTA). 

SMC Automation lab is the result of many months of work and cooperation between lecturers of FME and SMC Corporation (Vietnam), Branch of Danang. The Lab will help the FME improve the quality of teaching and learning theories and practices related to pneumatic equipment, industrial pneumatics, PLC programming and control for students 

SMC will support FME to train advanced knowledge on industrial standards related to industrial compressed air for 03 lecturers before implementing practical exercises for students.
